It all started at the age of 5, when Verd joined the Collingwood Primary
School Choir in Wentworth. Throughout High School, he was nominated as choir
master at Hillview Secondary School.
In 1996 he together with his sister Verdelle entered the Shell Road to Fame
competition where they won the quarter finals and also appeared on the Felicia
Show. He started doing back up vocals for his dad and uncles, doing cabaret,
thereafter in his matric year he was approached by renowned gospel band M.I.C.
who traveled extensively throughout South Africa as well as abroad for two
years, these countries included, Australia, Dubai, Holland and the U.K.
In the year 2002, he then became involved in songwriting and music production
demos together with Carlos Van De Westhuizen formed Real Deal Productions which
was based in Wentworth.
The following year, 2003, he signed to a recording company called, In Tyme
Productions, together with E.M.I. Records who produced East Coast Flava. He has
worked with Jae, Afro Z, Janine Price, Jerusha, Lyndle Kearns, but to mention a
few.
He and his brother Lavelle produced Coca Cola Popstars group called 101, Afro Z,
Jae, Janine Price, Lyndle Kearns and Jerusha. He and his brother, Leaveil Eaton
now own a recording studio called Brotherhood Productions which is a sub
division of the Notae Group. He is currently writing and producing his own
album. He together with Leaveil has 4 chart topping singles with, Jerusha, song
title: “For life”, Jae, song title; “Jealousy” and East Coast Flava, song title:
“We came to party/ on the floor.” He has performed alongside artists such as;
BeBe Winans, Ruben Studdard, Ernie Smith, Kelly Rowland and Ludacris.
Verd & brother have recently produced for Mandoza & Pitch Black Afro for this
year 2006 and also feature on Pitch Black Afro’s new single and video called
“never let u go”
Verd has performed for Metro fm awards in 2003, 2010 World Cup Soccer Bid,
Backstage Aids Benefit, Beach Festivals, MTN’s sunflower show at Sibiya Krakatoa
and performed alongside The Manhattans and Floetry at the One World Music
Festival.
He has appeared in newspapers such as The Sowetan, Mercury, Daily News,
Ethekwini News Paper, Metro Beat, Hub catalogue, The Blank Mag and many more.
Verd is currently doing a Durban school tour and continues next year and will
continue throughout South Africa giving motivational talks against the abuse of
women, alcohol ,HIV and Aids and drug abuse.
He has done radio interviews throughout South Africa and television as well,
just to name a few :Metro FM, East Coast Radio, Good Hope fm and P4 Capt.:
Backstage, W.O.W (WORLD OF WINNERS), Channel O, Yo TV .
Verd is well prepared to take his music career to the extreme limit.
